NEW LEAF
Mood Jungle brings three music nerds together to combine jazz, R&B, and rock into an easygoing, soulful blend. Inspired by the fiery sounds of Jimi Hendrix and atmospheric escape of Pink Floyd, the trio creates hypnotic and uplifting jams. Their sound has been described as music for musicians, bringing complex theories to the approachability of pop rock.

Recently, they were discovered by the SRJC student-run record label Don’t Flunk Me Records. Giving the band a creative homecoming, the former students return to their academic roots.

“It feels like we’ve come full circle, since we started in the music department here,” says drummer Hannah Huyoa.
“I wish we had this class!” says bassist Tyler Smith.

Don’t Flunk Me Records is the experiential component of the Music Industry class taught on the Petaluma campus by Associate Professor and music producer Jake Stillman. Each year, the students select a band or artist to produce, promote, market, and distribute in the real world. This year Mood Jungle stole the hearts of the students and were chosen to collaborate on the production of New Leaf.
